THE field for this Saturday’s second round of the Yamaha Stadium Motocross Series at Orange Showground will again be chasing factory rider Matt Moss but this time he is on a different bike.

Moss won both the Pro Open and Pro Light classes at last year’s two rounds in Orange and event promoter Phil Sargent, of Dirt Bike Promotions which is based in Orange, thinks he will still be hard to catch on his new Suzuki.

Nineteen-year old Moss has already won the opening round of the series at Queanbeyan on January 12 so the change of team and subsequent adjustment period has not slowed him at all.

A number of Orange riders will also contest the many classes staged with the contingent hoping to score home town victories on the man-made track at the showground.

Work on the track began yesterday with more than 12,000 tonnes of dirt brought in and the racing circuit is likely to be completed later today in anticipation for a training event on Friday.

“We’ve got some of the dirt in (yesterday) and some time (today) it will be getting finished,” Sargent said.

Novice riders can participate in a riding clinic on Friday with the aim to improve the skills of those wanting to better their riding ability.

The session will go for five hours and those interested can sign up between 8-8:30am Friday.

“It’s just a training school to better their skills and help them out with their riding,” Sargent said.

Qualifying for the second round of the Yamaha Stadium Motocross Series begins at midday Saturday with the main races starting at 5pm.

Riders will be competing in nippers, for four to eight-year old’s, Clubman, women’s All Powers, Pro Light and Pro Open classes.

Tickets for the event can be bought at the showground on Saturday.
