A GROUP of Lions is called a pride and the Orange City Lions will band together tomorrow to play for just that when they face Dubbo Rhinos, fittingly, at Pride Park.
The Blowes Menswear Cup semi-finals are out of the equation for Orange City with two rounds remaining, but they will not give up on trying to win their last two fixtures.
Inside centre Mitch McCabe says they want to restore some lost pride and what better way to do that than with a victory over the possibly semi-final-bound Rhinos side.
“No one wants to lose and everyone wants to keep their heads up and stay proud,” McCabe said.
“It’s more of our pride so I know the team just wants to go out there and keep our heads high and finish on the right note.”
Orange City sit in eighth, some eight points behind Rhinos, who are tied for fourth with Orange Emus.
Forbes and Charles Sturt University, Bathurst are close behind and are still a chance at breaking into the top five.
And while theoretically possible, it is highly unlikely the Lions could also make the finals but they can have a say in who does make it. A victory over Rhinos tomorrow would even do cross town rivals Emus a favour.
Orange City are keen to knock Rhinos off with McCabe believing it would show his side is capable of playing good rugby.
