THE Orange CYMS Junior Rugby League Club annual carnival will return in 2009.
The carnival has been cancelled the last two years as the drought has made the Jack Brabham playing surface too hard for the juniors.
At this stage CYMS will host the carnival again in March next year with a date still to be finalised.
This carnival will be a special one as it will be it’s 30th anniversary.
The carnival is one of the main focuses for the CYMS junior club which recently held its annual general meeting.
A new-look executive was voted in with Dave Penny the president, Scott Duffy and Peter Boss the vice-presidents, Creina Wells the treasurer and Jo Penny the publicity officer.
The secretary’s position was not filled but Dave Penny is confident someone will step in and fill the role.
Jo Penny said the executive is already planning the junior carnival.
“The carnival is good because normally if you have more than one child (in the Group 10 junior competition), they’re off in different places to play,” Penny explained.
“With this carnival everyone plays at the same place, on the same day. It’s a real family event.
“The carnival is also an opportunity for new referees to get experience.”
Dave Penny said the executive also had plans for the 2009 Group 10 junior season which would include more social functions for the club and building on the relationship with the Orange CYMS seniors.
