ORANGE High earned a place in the NSW Combined High Schools open girls touch football finals series yesterday.
The side downed Endeavour Sports High 3-1 in a tight battle.
Orange’s tries were scored by Olivia Patterson, Naz Elliott and the elusive Tash Rudd.
Coach Pete Shea was thrilled to see his girls win their way into the final 10 series for the first time.
“It wasn’t the best they’ve played but they played well enough to win,” Shea said.
“It’s going to be a wonderful opportunity for them to see what it takes at that level.”
The Orange side is young with only two players in year 12, meaning they could have a few successful years ahead of them.
Shea said Kate Butcherine and Olivia Patterson played well yesterday setting up play.
Cassie Vane was also strong in the middle for Orange High.
The girls will play the final 10 series in Gosford on August 25 and 26.
The win comes just days after Canobolas Rural Technology High School won a place in the open boys’ top 10 final series.
Canobolas downed Matraville Sports High 8-6 to progress.
