Ross the star attraction

19/08/2008 8:21:00 PM
ONCE again a relatively quiet week, but somehow we’ll get along, won’t we?

Let’s get moving with a look at the Thursday 7.30pm league, and here we discover that the star bowler was Ross Southwell from Our Name Was Taken, with 129 over average for the series. Next up is the Sunday mixed singles, where the star bowler was Derek Jones, who scored 106 over average for the series. More mixed singles, and the group from Tuesday evening, and this lot of burglars produced as star bowler Kevin Delaney with 101 over average for the series. And finally (I did say it was quiet) there’s the Tuesday juniors, and from this league came star bowler Alivya Powell from Hot Buddies, with 77 over average for the series.

Now, as it was so quiet, it wasn’t hard to select a star bowler of the week and winner of the auto wash, compliments of Pete’s Car Wash. It was, obviously, Ross Southwell, who came up with that great 129 over average for the series.

This week’s high roller champion, and winner of the three free practice games, was June Graham from the Thursday 7.30pm league, who rolled a game of 224 (PB). Others from the same league were Ross Southwell 247 (included in a PB series of 717), Wade Selwood 219 and Michael Quinlan 215. Other bowlers looking for some practice included John Cameron 223, Derek Jones 214, Thomas Stewart 248 (860), Sharon Clark 225, Troy Seers 214, Jason Brown 247, Ray Tyquin 208, David Rosser 278, Blake Atkinson 242, Keryn Delaney 204, Ron Forbes 236, Simon Dickinson 236 (917), Luke Cooper 216, Matthew Caughlan 232, Brendan Francis 230 (834), Jessica Smith 214, Kevin Delaney 202, Michael Collison 225, Brian Penrose 211, Tony Bloomfield 278, Tim Irwin 212, Jack Rapley 209 and Jason Osborne 299.

The almost made it hero, and claimant of the Mackie’s Cafe open order was Wayne Ozols with a score of 160 (PB). Others seeking a feed included Ashleigh Corby 111, Katey Coulson 115, Ryleigh Cooper 125, Allan Orton 181, Jake Livermore 133, Cory Gill 110, Kathleen Howarth 136 (PB), Elizabeth Wittig 123, Tara Keegan 138 (PB), Ben Perriman 199, Sarah Ostini 154, David Quinlan 198, Frances Patton 178, Doreen Thurtell 167, Katrina Gosper 192, Trevor Southwell 177, Steve Halls 180, Rob Jones 190, Max Smith 179, Dimity Bloomfield 181, John Smith 194 and Mark Beard 178.

This week’s female of note, and the latest contender for the monthly award of a gift certificate from Beyond Blonde Hair Studio, was June Graham, who scored that 224 (PB), which just happened to be 83 over average. Our encouragement award, the Video Ezy voucher, was taken out by the previously-mentioned Kathleen Howarth, whose score of 136 (PB), was 57 over average.

And our junior of the week, and winner of the McDonalds encouragement award, was also previously mentioned, and was Tara Keegan, who rolled that great 138 (PB), which just happened to be 47 over average.

And yes, as I warned last week, I did manage to locate a double dipper, and this poor benighted soul was Scott Piper, who came up with no trouble at all with both 131 and 91!

There appears to be some confusion regarding the female of note award. Take note that it is a monthly award, and not a weekly one. Therefore, the names that appear in each weekly report during any given month are the ladies who are in line to win this gift certificate, generously donated by Beyond Blonde Hair Studio, at the end of each month.
