KINROSS-CYMS coach Pete Shea is hoping his side can continue its winning momentum when it takes on St Pat’s in today’s women’s Premier League Hockey match.
Kinross-CYMS have won their last three games against Orange Cougars (3-1), Parkes (3-1) and Dubbo (5-0).
Shea knows today’s game against third-placed St Pat’s will provide a greater challenge.
“They’re a tough side,” Shea said.
“They play a physical game and win a lot of games because of their strength and the tough game they play. We’ve been playing against teams who are similar to us or below us on the table. Playing a team above us should be a good challenge.”
The last time the two sides met was in Bathurst and St Pat’s got up 2-1.
Shea is confident they can test St Pat’s again, with the Orange side’s defence becoming stronger and the young players up front improving each week.
A victory to Kinross-CYMS would also help their chances of a semi-final place, as they currently sit in sixth spot with only their goal goal difference keeping them out of the top five.
A Kinross-CYMS win could also benefit fellow Orange side Ex-Services.
If Kinross-CYMS down St Pat’s and Ex-Services beat Lithgow Panthers, Ex-Services would move to outright second on the competition ladder.
Orange Cougars could move off the bottom of the table with a win over Dubbo today.
Cougars will host Dubbo with the game starting at 2.35pm, followed by Kinross-CYMS and St Pat’s at 4pm.
In other women’s PLH games today Lithgow Zig Zag travel to Parkes and Souths takes on Bathurst City.
