KINROSS-CYMS notched up their second women’s Premier League Hockey win on Saturday in emphatic style as they demolished Dubbo 10-1 at the Orange Hockey Centre.

Kate Davis and Kayla Orrock each bagged trebles in the nine-goal rout, with eight of the goals coming in an authoritative second-half performance.

The victory moves them off the bottom of the ladder and Kinross-CYMS coach Pete Shea is now hopeful the second-half showing will flow into future games.

“It’s impressive because of the way that we never let up,” Shea said.

“We didn’t play particularly well in the first half and we changed things up.

“We just changed our pattern of play in the midfield and just pushed a couple of our midfielders a little bit higher.

“We basically dominated the whole (second) half and that’s a skill in itself. The girls played with total authority.”

Ash Carr was again outstanding for the fledgling side, with forward Kate Davis another strong performer with her hat-trick.

She was able to find plenty of space up front, while Orrock’s three goals all came from short corners.

The talented teenage defender pushed forward for the set pieces and demonstrated what hard work at training can do as her three strikes left the Dubbo keeper redundant.

“That was more of an indication of how well our short corners were being taken,” Shea said of Orrock’s three goals.

“We’ve been doing a little bit of work on short corners and she is determined to do well in that area.”

First-half goals to Davis and Danielle Said saw the Orange side go to the break just in front with a 2-1 lead.

But a rampant 20-minute period in the second stanza saw Kinross-CYMS slot in seven goals with Davis, Orrock, Lyndl Taylor and Jo McRae all getting on the score sheet in the second half.

Orange Cougars on the other hand were not as dominant, slumping to their fifth-straight loss, a result that leaves them at the bottom of the women’s PLH ladder.

Lithgow Panthers scored their first win of the season with the 1-nil result over the 2007 grand finalists and they now move to eight competition points, two clear of the Cougars at the bottom.

In other games, St Pat’s keep the pressure on Ex-Services at the top with a 3-1 win over Lithgow Zig Zag, while Parkes consolidated their place in the top four with a 2-1 win over Souths.
