HOCKEY
A TOUCH of Hollywood will come to Orange next month when Hockeyroos star Kate Hollywood conducts a junior hockey clinic.
The clinic is part of a Sportslink Australia initiative which is taking Australian Olympic hockey representatives around the country to hold junior clinics.
Orange will host a clinic on October 9 for all junior players who are under 18 years of age.
Orange Hockey president Peter Eslick said it was a great opportunity to have an Olympic representative coaching the city’s juniors.
Hollywood has been a member of the Australian women’s hockey squad since 2005 and made her Olympic debut at Beijing.
The midfielder has played 87 international matches for Australia and was a gold medallist at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games.
She is also part of the NSW Arrows Australian Hockey League team.
The coaching clinic will run for six hours and will cater to all levels of playing ability.
Children will be broken into small groups to give focused attention to different skills.
Eslick said he hoped around 50 children would attend the clinic to learn from one of Australia’s current top female players.
Joining Hollywood for the clinic will be Ivan Boulton, who coached the NSW Waratahs from 2004-2007.
