MOLONG Central School caused an upset at Jack Brabham Park on Wednesday as they won the Western Region final of the NSW Primary Schools Sports Association softball knock-out.

Bletchington Public School were favoured to take out the carnival but Molong produced a great performance to progress after recording an 11-8 win over the Orange school in the final.

Molong established an 8-3 lead to gain control of the final but Bletchington hit back to close the scores to 8-7.

However, Molong were able to cross for three more runs and hold off Bletchington.

The Orange school qualified for the final with a 14-4 win over Forbes Public School in the semi-final while Molong beat Blayney Public 15-8 in their semi-final.

Bletchington were rewarded for making the final with four players in the Western team.

Bradley Watson, Jayden Wilson, Ben Frecklington and Ryan Milham will play for Western next month when the state carnival is held at Jack Brabham Park.

Molong’s Blake Hutchinson and Jye Barrow also made the Western team along with Michael Haycox, Casey Wallace and Jayden Fuller from Blayney.
