AUSTRALIAN RULES
ORANGE Tigers put a tumultuous week behind them on Saturday to record a whopping 234-point win over Parkes at Bloomfield.
Orange were docked four points by the Central West AFL for their role in an abandoned game against Cowra on July 12.
But the Tigers put that controversy behind them and produced a comprehensive team performance to kick a massive 37.25 (247) to 2.2 (14) win.
Tigers full forward Nic Freedman booted a tremendous 18 goals against the Panthers to keep his place as the competition’s leading goal kicker.
But it still wasn’t enough to earn best on ground honours as Tigers midfielders Mitch McKenna and Simon Kay were also outstanding.
Kay contributed four goals in his third game with the club and McKenna three as the Tigers dominated the under-manned Parkes outfit.
Parkes kicked their goals in the opening quarter with Paul Clinch booting both.
Orange started off with nine goals in the first quarter and added another nine in the second, 10 in the third quarter and nine in the final term.
Tigers assistant coach Nathan Pearce thought his side produced a strong team showing in the big win with eight multiple goal kickers getting on the score sheet.
In other CWAFL games, Cowra flogged Young to stay on top of the ladder while Dubbo moved into third with an 11.8 (74) to 9.10 (64) win over Bathurst.
