Kitted kids ready for SCG

AUSTRALIAN RULES

WHEN the St Mary’s Primary School Australian Rules team eventually get to play on the Sydney Cricket Ground in the Paul Kelly Cup finals, they will look the part in their new uniforms.

They got their new gear late last month before the initial date for the finals but inclement weather in Sydney saw the finals of the state-wide competition moved back until Monday.

The Orange school will face some of the top primary school teams in NSW on the hallowed turf.

They may be intimidated when they first see the St Mary’s side in their new gear.

“It feels good wearing the better gear,” player James Angus said.

St Mary’s have been training extensively in the lead-up to their SCG adventure, with the postponement of the finals merely giving them extra time on the training paddock.

And Angus thinks the St Mary’s side will be ready to fire next Monday.

“We’ll be pumped,” he said.
