TUNE in to 107.5 - The Local Station to hear the second series of The Other Side radio plays, which was officially launched yesterday.
Over the past eight months, Orange Community Broadcasters have recorded the work of five local playwrights.
Yesterday was the world premier of Waiting Still by Joan Brown of Orange, True Blue Publishing by Ross Stephenson of Molong, The West Winging It by Stephen Nugent of Orange, The Strolling Player of Kikacro by Bakka Bourke of Bathurst and Robin and Annie by Freya Hawke of Orange.
The Other Side technical producer Peter Carter said the plays are well worth listening to.
“It’s a long process, but the plays are now all recorded, edited and credited,” he said.
The five plays will be heard on FM107.5 - The Local Station over the next seven weeks.
Listeners can tune into FM107.5 at 10am on week days and noon on weekends to hear the series.
Nine-year-old Freya Hawke, who also performs in her play, said she cannot wait to hear it on the radio.
“I’ve already got plans for another one,” she said.
After the five plays have gone to air, six works from the first series of The Other Side, which were first aired in 2004, will be replayed.
The Other Side radio plays project is a collaboration between The Central West Writer’s Centre and FM107.5 - The Local Station.
“It’s a great way for local voices to be heard throughout our community,” Mr Carter said.
“It’s been a pleasure to be involved in it and I’m looking forward to the next series.”
