All set to swing into spring

28/08/2008 1:29:00 PM
The frosts of a long winter are starting to die down, with hints of spring just around the corner.

As August winds down, we've had more sunshine with the days gradually getting longer.

It's about time too, as we've only had about half as many sunny days as last year's August.

While we've had sunny skies in the past few days, the temperature average for August hasn't matched, barely nudging 13 degrees C compared to a maximum of almost 20 degrees C last August.

With the sun and longer hours of daylight, a few people are wondering when exactly daylight savings starts again.

But there's no need to panic about the state of your clocks just yet.

Daylight savings kicks in on October 5 and ends on April 5 next year.
